Double Page spread feedback

1.Do you think my double page spread reflects my pop genre?
2.What features enable you to recognize my magazine as a magazine?
3. Is the font clear and easy to read?
4. Does anything need to be changed/improved? why?
5. Do you think the language is too formal or too informal or a mixture of both and do you think its appropriate for my target audience?
6. Do you think the images I have used are appropriate? why? why not?

I asked 3 people that fit into my target audience and who also have interests in the pop genre. They thought that the colour scheme reflects my pop genre and also I have used a question and answer style format which is typical of a pop music magazine. The features that enable them to recognize my magazine as a magazine are the pull quote, the drop cap as well as the large image on the left side and also the image bleeding onto the next page and again the question and answer style format. They find the font clear and easy to read as it is bright and bold and stands out a lot. They don't think anything needs changing and having the left page as just an image is good because people may want to rip it out and keep it as a poster. They think my language is mainly informal and chatty which is good as this is what pop music magazines use for people within my target audience age which only some parts of it being slightly formal. The images I have used are focused on one person and the image is of someone smiling which connotes the pop genre and Hannah is looking directly into the camera to connect with the audience.

detailed target audience profile

Contents page feedback

1. What do you think of my layout on my contents page? Does anything need to be changed? why? why not?
2.What do you think of my articles? are they appropriate for my target audience?
3.Are the images i've used on my contents page typical of a pop music magazine? why? why not?
4. Do you think anything needs changing?
5. Do you think the language is appropriate for my target audience?
This is my contents page that I showed my target audience:

I asked 3 girls who are 16-17 that fit into my target audience about my contents page. Two of the people I asked said that they didn't think my layout to be changed and that it was really good but one of my people said they thought the articles need to be more spaced out as people may not want to read everything if it's all really close together. They all thought that my articles were appropriate for my target audience.  The images are also typical of a pop music magazine because they appear to be fun. The language appears to be appropriate for my target audience as it's informal and chatty.

Front cover Audience feedback

1. Do you think my magazine reflects the pop genre and why?
2. Do you think my colour scheme is appropriate for my target audience who are 12-17 years old's?
3. Is there anything you think I should change and why?
4.Do you think the image is suitable for my magazine? Do you think it's typical of a pop music magazine?
5.What do you think of my coverlines? Are they suitable for my target audience?

I asked 3 people within my target audience about my front cover, one of the people I used is a media student.  They thought that my magazine reflects the pop genre because of my three coverlines on the left and a puff in the right corner. Also my posters at the bottom of my magazine reflect my genre.  They agree that my colour scheme is appropriate for my target audience even though the age range is wide and they find that my colours aren't childish which is suitable for my readers.  Two of them said I  don't need to change anything about my front cover other however one person thought I should change the price of my magazine however from looking at my research I found that magazines with between 65-70 pages cost around £3.

This is the front cover I showed them:

Photoshoot images

Sophie:

I like this image of Sophie as her facial expression seems to be fun and from my research into pop music magazines many of the artists pull faces that appear to be fun and as my cover line to go with this image is 'I fell over on stage' so I thought that by Sophie doing a surprised face it would be most appropriate. As most cover line images are Medium close ups or close ups I decided to take a medium close up of Sophie.

I then made Sophie stay doing the exact same facial expression which I found suitable for the cover line but took a close up this time. Although you can't see what Sophie is wearing this image shows facial expression a lot better then my other image.  I also like this image because it doesn't show much background whereas the other image does. I like this effect I used when taking the photo and this is the image I will use for my front cover coverline image. I also made Sophie look directly into the camera as from research of pop magazines artist commonly looked into the camera to make the reader feel more involved. I have represented  Sophie in a stereotypical way to link to a mainstream mass audience.  This image is posed for.

Alejandro:
Due to being at a soccer six event when I took this photo it was hard to get more than one image however I did get a photo of Alejandro to use for my coverline image on my magazine. This is a close up image of Alejandro to clearly show his facial expression. I took this at a soccer six event which was one of my location ideas. Alejandro is looking directly into the camera and he is an upcoming artist so it is going to be good to use him on my magazine. This is a posed image of Alejandro.

Craig
I took Craigs image against a light background as many pop music images are taken against one. I also took this image of Craig as a medium long shot to show facial expression. Here Craig is looking directly into the camera and from looking at the poster images this is common. I will use this as my poster image as from my research of photo shoots and analysis of magazines this image seems suitable.
I also took this image of Craig which is a medium shot showing facial expression and body language. However I found that this image didn't appear as fun as the other image I took of Craig. It is a posed image and he is smiling which is common in teenage pop magazines.

Lauren
Here are a range of images I took of Lauren all against a light coloured background. I used my photo shoot research to help with facial expression. I took these to use as my poster images.  The two photos of Lauren holding the necklace are like the image of Katy Perry which I found when researching photo shoots. The second image connotes youth and fun however I am going to use the first image as this also connotes fun and appears ideal for my poster image and from research many celebs use this facial expression. All these images are posed for and facial expression and body language are clear to see.

I also took these 2 images to choose from for my coverline image and decided to go with the second image. The second image is a mid close up which from my analysis of two front covers is more likely to be used as for coverlines than a medium shot as it clearly shows facial expression. In these images Lauren is looking directly into the camera as I found this frequent in pop music magazines and also it makes her engage with the reader.

James

Here are three images I took of James. My photo shoot research influenced these images as the first one is similar to the image of Liam Payne. The third image was influenced by Conor Maynard however for the poster image I have chosen to use the second image as it is a mixture of both Conor Maynard and Liam Payne. The first image is a medium shot showing facial expression clearly whereas the second image is a medium long shot which shows facial expression and body language and the third image is a long shot. In the first and third images James is looking directly into the camera to engage with the reader whereas the second image is looking down at the floor.

Hannah
These are some of the images I took of Hannah as the interview is about her and she is my central image I need to use four photos of her so I took a range of photos of her which were influenced by my research. They all include a range of shots to show body language and facial expression.  All the images connote fun and youth which is perfect for my target audience. I also experimented with a black and white effect however I am going to use coloured images because from my research these are the ones mainly used. All of the images I have taken appear stereotypical of my genre.

India
This image is a medium shot and India is looking directly into the camera to make the reader feel more involved and this is common for pop music magazines. The image is taken against a white background to make her stand out and to connote purity and freshness. This image connotes youth again ideal for the target audience being teenagers. This image is posed.

Outfits and props for photoshoot

James

This is the outfit James will wear for his photo shoot. From my research of pop music magazines and off images from pop singer photo shoots I thought that this outfit would fit the genre. Many male pop artists tend to wear coloured trousers and so I thought it would be appropriate for James to wear these as well.

Hannah

I chose for Hannah to wear this for most of the images because its a summer outfit and summer is very popular with teenagers due to it being the holidays so a time to relax and go to the beach and so it would appeal to them as it contrasts with the time the magazine was made. It also connotes the pop genre.
I also chose this outfit for some of the images because from my research the artists usually wear summer clothes, typically shorts and a top. I added sunglasses to make the images more fun and exciting. These clothes are also typical of teenagers which is another reason I chose them as they will be the readers and purchasers of my magazine so I wanted to ensure it would appeal to them.

Lauren
This is the outfit that I chose for Lauren to wear for my poster image. I chose this from looking back at my analysis of pop music magazines and also from my photoshoot images. I think this outfit connotes fun and youth.
For Laurens coverline image I chose a pink top. I chose this because it was very 'girly' and so it connotes femininity. As my target audience are teenage girls then it is the type of top they would wear.

India

The reason I chose for India to wear this is because its typical of what a teenager would wear and it also typical of the pop genre. I chose this from looking back at my research I saw that many artists wear gold necklaces.

Craig

From looking back at my research, male pop artists tend to wear quite plain tops which is why I chose for Craig to wear this because although its quite colourful it isn't very detailed. Also the colours connote maturity.
